It’s hard to believe that an entire year has passed in the blink of an eye. This season sure does feel extra special compared to the pandemic turkey fest just one year ago. Last year we were grateful to be with our loved ones, and thankful to have time to sit back and reflect on our things we took for granted. This year, we are extra thankful for getting back to “normal” and relieved to have gotten through the crazy year.
Hopefully, your relationships are stronger than before. You have not only reprioritized your wants, needs, and goals, but no doubt realized that all that really matters is your family and friends. Near or far, your circle of support was more important than ever… so why not plan some extra special activities to share your thankfulness?
Here are a few ideas that are sure to create memories that last a lifetime. Don’t forget to save some feast for later… because (WARNING: food pun straight ahead) you miss 100% of the leftovers you don’t eat!
Play Together
This game is for everyone… Thanksgiving Family Feud! Nothing warms the heart like a belly laugh… and what better than a Thanksgiving-themed family feud game to get the whole fam involved?
You’ll be sure to have a day to remember with this instant printable download that costs less than your morning coffee. It’s good for the whole family, so make sure to get the kids involved! For the younger kids… head to your local party store and find classics like Pin the Feather on the Turkey, or entertain them with some Thanksgiving coloring books.
Eat Together
This extra special holiday calls for an exciting and unexpected take on a signature feast staple: STUFFING! Try out this sausage stuffing for a fun, meaty twist on a Turkey day staple. It will satisfy your belly while getting the family involved in a group activity.
Ingredients:
-1 Lb Sweet or Spicy Italian Sausage, casing removed and sausage crumbled
-1 cup each of chopped celery and onion
-3 cups water
-½ cup butter
-1 box of your favorite stuffing (homemade if you’re feeling frisky)
Pour water into a large saucepan and bring to a boil. Add the stuffing mix and butter, then remove from heat and cover. While the stuffing “soaks”, combine the sausage, celery and onion until the sausage is browned, about 5-7 minutes. Add the sausage into the stuffing and VOILA! A savory stuffing sure to satisfy.
Relax Together
Obviously, the main event is FOOTBALL. Post-food, the second most important part of the day is the classic Turkey day rivalries. We’ve got Chicago Bears at Detroit Lions up first, then Las Vegas Raiders at Dallas Cowboys smack in the middle of the feasting. The main event is Buffalo Bills at New Orleans Saints for a primetime ending to your day of glutton.
If sports aren’t your thing, unwind your mind and deflate your belly with some classic holiday movies:
-Make the kids laugh their sides off with the animated feature, Free Birds. Two birds from different sides of the track go back in time to stop Turkeys from being on the Thanksgiving menu. You can find it for free streaming on most platforms.
-Throw it back to a true classic with Planes, Trains and Automobiles. John Candy and Steve Martin were a comedic duo that made this out to be one of the best holiday films of all time. For only a few bucks, you can stream this gem with the click of a button.
We hope this year, you treasure the moments you have together. Life makes us busy, and our plans get in the way. Take this opportunity to cherish your loved ones, and reflect on all the good things in your life. As always, thank you for being a fan.

"MeatCrafters participates in the Saturday Rockville Pike market and the Sunday Bethesda market. Their bratwurst is fantastic!!! I say that as someone who both grew up in Wisconsin and has lived in Germany. Their landjaeger is also great, and something I've not really seen outside of Wisconsin."
"Not only was I impressed with the facilities and the employees' enthusiasm for their products, but I was impressed with the samples I had while there."
